A 47-year-old Manitowoc man facing multiple charges in the death of a three-year-old child this summer had his initial appearance adjourned a second time this afternoon to allow additional time to retain a Public Defender. Eduardo Gamez along with 38-year-old Jamie Schrank each face a felony charge of Party to a crime-physical abuse of a child-repeated acts causing death. They also face neglecting a child and drug charges from the July 28th incident in which their five-year-old child suffered injuries. On the afore mentioned evening authorities responded to a local hospital where the three-year-old in the defendant’s care was suffering from severe internal and external injuries and died later that evening. Both Gamez and Schrank admitted to using methamphetamines while supervising both children. They remain in the County Jail on cash bonds and are due back in court next Monday afternoon.
