Authorities say two Monroe men were injured in a single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning. The Green County Sheriff’s Office says emergency crews responded to the scene at around 3 A-M in the town of Monroe on reports of a single-vehicle crash with injuries. Investigators say 23-year-old Mitchell W. Riese of Monroe was driving west when he missed a curve in the road. Officers say Riese’s vehicle left the road and hit a tree. Police say Riese was wearing a seat belt. He was taken to the Monroe Clinic Emergency Room for treatment of his injuries. Investigators say a passenger in the vehicle, 23-year-old Benjamin T. Murray of Monroe, was also wearing a seat belt. He had to be extricated from the vehicle, according to the release. Murray was injured and taken to Monroe Clinic Emergency Room, and eventually airlifted to U-W Hospital. Police say Riese faces a tentative charge of first-offense operating while under the influence (OWI). He was also cited for failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle.
