An all-female firefighting crew responded to nine calls earlier this month while staffing Milwaukee Fire Department Station-9. With women representing only 25 of 700 Milwaukee firefighters, November 8th was a rarity — not a man present in that firehouse. One firefighter and paramedic says she hopes it becomes the norm as six more women joined the department this week. Twenty-five others are in training at the city’s firefighting academy.
