With Black Friday only a few days away, the Better Business Bureau is advising shoppers to be wary of potential scams. Most scammers have shifted their focus to the online market, due to most brick and mortar stores utilizing the chip reader method for running credit cards. One easy way to ensure the site you are buying from is legit is to look at the very beginning of the site address, more commonly referred to as the URL. Secure sites will have the prefix HTTPS:// before the actual address, as the S stands for secure. Scammers are also using look alike websites to confuse shoppers. The sites will likely use a similar URL, with additional words included. Some places will also ask for unusual forms of payment, such as prepaid debit cards, and gift cards, as these are untraceable and cannot be undone.
