A simple traffic stop lead to a short foot chase in Manitowoc over the weekend. A Manitowoc Police Officer pulled over a vehicle in the 800 block of Washington Street after the driver had ran a red light. The driver gave the officer a legitimate License, but the passenger gave the officer a fake name. When the name did not come up in the system, backup was called. When the officers approached the vehicle again, the passenger began to exit the vehicle asking why they were pulled over, but immediately took off on foot. Officers took chase, and found the man hiding in a bush, complaining of ankle pain. The man then identified himself, and said he ran because he had a warrant out for his arrest. The 28 year old was arrested and charged with Obstructing, Possession of THC, and Carrying a Concealed Knife.
