Wisconsin defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard wants his defensive backs to be aggressive, but a lack of experience has led them to take that too far occasionally. Ten players have been used in the secondary at times this season and nine were starting for the first time. Critical penalties have been damaging, but Leonhard says he can’t rip one of his players for committing pass interference without the risk of taking away their aggressiveness. The defensive backs will be tested tomorrow (Saturday) by Purdue quarterback David Blough, one of the best passers in the Big Ten.
