The Sheboygan Police Department performed a tobacco compliance check at 28 retailers in the city. and the results are positive. Only one of the stores sold tobacco products to a minor, which is a success rate of 96%. This is an improvement on previous tobacco compliance checks. The one retailer that did not pass was provided guidance and training. Retailers are expected to train their employees on proper procedures for sales of tobacco products. There is free state-approved training available on Wisconsin tobacco sales law, on-line at WITobaccoCheck.org. This training includes online study guides with a quiz and a certificate of completion.
