The owner of the Hortonville glass-making company BenShot decided to give gifts to his employees rather than cash bonuses this year. Each employee got a gun. Ben Wolfgram says he wanted to give a gift that was “fun and memorable”. Technically, the workers got gift cards which they used to buy the weapons so they would go through legal background checks. Each employee was asked to visit a local gun store of their choice and report back to BenShot the price of the gun, after which they were gifted a gift card worth up to $500 to go towards the purchase price. If the gun had a price tag more than $500 the employee paid the difference. The company spent about eight-thousand dollars on the gift cards for 16 employees. Only 2 employees chose not to purchase a gun and instead were given a Visa Gift Card. All employees opted to attend a gun safety seminar provided by BenShot. The company BenShot is famous for making glassware with a bullet embedded.
