Manitowoc Public School District taxpayers received some ‘good’ news recently about the 2018-19 budget. During an appearance on WOMT’s Be My Guest yesterday, Superintendent of Schools Mark Holzman explained that state aid rose nearly 5.7%, while equalized valued in the MPSD increased by 4.7%, compared to a decline, locally, the previous year.
Holzman said when the district asked for a 3.5-million dollar referendum in April, which was passed, the tax levy was going to go up by 14 cents to $8.04 per thousand.
When asked about how things might change for local schools with Governor-elect Evers, the local superintendent said, “we hope to give input on how public schools can utilize finances & policies and, we support Tony Evers just like we want to work with current Governor Walker to build positive relationships, regardless of where they fall in the (political) system.”
