Sophomore defenseman Josh Ess broke a 1-1 tie midway through the third period as the Wisconsin men’s hockey team split the weekend series against Minnesota. With the 3-1 victory Saturday, Wisconsin’s record improved to 5-5. Freshman goalie Daniel Lebedeff had 32 saves and the Badgers were three-for-four on the penalty kill. Wisconsin travels to Ohio State for a two-game series next weekend.
