The Manitowoc County Board has approved the 2019 budget submitted earlier by County Executive Bob Ziegelbauer. Board chairman Jim Brey said the $70 million spending package was passed on a vote of 16-7 with 2 supervisors absent.
Those contentious items the chairman referred to were: a $60,000 expenditure for Project Lakeshore for economic development, a $422 dollar membership for the Chamber Of Manitowoc County and $9,500 to purchase 25 iPads & cases for county board Members. Brey says…
There has been a concern by some board members, along with the county executive that meetings of Progress Lakeshore should fall under the State Open meetings law. But, Brey explains.
The newly approved budget calls for approximately $6.5 million in borrowing with a good chunk of that going for bridge replacement on County Trunk R and expansion of R Between Broadway and Custer Streets.
