The Green Bay Police Department has seen an alarming trend of suspect(s) stealing quarters from washing machines inside apartment complexes. They have received reports of washing machines being broken into and the quarters cleaned out from at least six different apartment complexes in the 1500, 1600, 1700 BLK of Western Ave and the 300 BLK of Locust St
It would take the suspect a considerable amount of time to disconnect the water connections, pull the unit out from the wall to gain access to the rear of the coin-op area, remove the coins, and flee the scene. After examining the washing machines and damage, it is possible more than one suspect is involved and they may possess a key that could be accessing the machines. The current monetary loss is believed to be around $1500 so far.
Those with information relating to the person(s) involved in these thefts are urged to contact the Green Bay Police at 920-448-3208 and speak with Lt. Rick Belanger.
