Former Roncalli High School varsity basketball coach and athletic director, Jim Kersten, has this Sunday, November 11th circled on his calendar: it’s the day that the Menasha native & Marquette University alumnus will be inducted into the Wisconsin Athletic Directors Hall-of-Fame at Wisconsin Dells. Kersten, who still resides in Manitowoc, tells Seehafer News he received correspondence that he was selected for the WADA honor a couple of months ago.
Jim Kersten recalls he was hired at Roncalli High School in 1965 by Brother Cyril Laticky.
Kersten the first ever coach brought on board at Roncalli, overseeing the boys basketball program for 25-years. He also coached cross-country, track, tennis, golf and football over his tenure, leading the Jets to conference and regional titles and state tournament appearances. He is also a member of several Halls of Fame, including his alma mater Saint Mary Central, and Lakeshore All-Sports Hall of Fame
