On Friday November 9th, Lincoln High School will host a Veterans Day assembly to honor all current and past military members and families. The assembly will consist of a guest speaker, short presentations from students, and patriotic music provided by Lincoln band and choir students. Lincoln has spent the month leading up to the assembly working on various projects to support and honor Veterans. In their homerooms, students have created paracord bracelets to send to soldiers overseas, wrote letters to veterans who will soon partake in an honor flight, or invited a veteran in to talk about their experience. Character education has been an integral part of curriculum at Lincoln the last two years, and the Veterans Day assembly will transition students from focusing on the value of “inspiration” to focusing on the selected value for the next six weeks- “relationships.” Carl Sieracki, Social Studies teacher at Lincoln High School, has played a large role in organizing the assembly and connecting with Veterans in the Manitowoc community. According to Sieracki, “Rear Admiral Gerald Clusen will be our Keynote speaker for the Veterans Day assembly. He enlisted in the Navy after high school and climbed the ranks from Seaman to Fleet Officer throughout his illustrious career spanning 4 decades and several conflicts, including a combat mission during the Vietnam War. He will be speaking on Inspiration through a career in the military.” Lincoln would like to extended an invitation to all Veterans in the community to attend the assembly, which will take place in the JFK Field House at 10:00 am. The doors will open at 9:30. Lincoln students are proud to honor all those who have served and hope you will consider joining in the assembly on November 9th.
