Manitowoc Lincoln Athletic Director Dave Steavpack has accepted the resignation of Ships Head Football Coach Rick Ducat after 4-seasons at the helm. Ducat, whose teams went 8-and-28 since he took over the program in 2015, was hired in the Spring of that year to fill the void created by the death of Coach John Dixon, following the 2014 football season. Ducat , who continues as a science teacher at Lincoln High School, issued a statement saying, “We stressed as a coaching staff being a family & loving each other. They are traits that I value and I always wanted the boys within the football program to value, as well. I have maintained the same standards the kids have had in place in the past: work hard, do your best and have no regrets.” The outgoing coach is credited with establishing the MPSD Saturday Morning Flag Football program and was instrumental in creating 5th & 6th grade Spring Youth Football. Steavpack says the MPSD has set-up a timeline for the hiring process and plans to have a new head coach in place by the end of the school year.
