Originally, some Republicans in the Wisconsin Senate didn’t want to vote on state protection for people with pre-existing health conditions because they were already protected by federal law. Now, Senate leader Alberta Darling says there is unanimous support for passage of a state guarantee. Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald had been less positive last week. Governor Scott Walker wants the federal protection repealed, so states like Wisconsin can pass their own guarantees of coverage for people with pre-existing conditions.
