Trial For Mother Accused In Infant Son’s Death Starts In Oneida County

Prosecutors have told an Oneida County jury a 29-year-old woman abused her stepson until he died.  Ellen Tran is facing a charge of reckless homicide.  Twenty-month-old Avery Edwards died of head injuries last year.  The defense says Tran’s ex-husband, Trung Tran, is responsible for the child’s death.  His testimony was cut short Monday after he pleaded the Fifth on several questions from the prosecution.
