A 16-year-old St. Mary’s Springs Academy student will be laid to rest Saturday following his death in a hunting accident last week in Calumet County. Trent Scheueffner of St. Cloud Wisconsin died last Friday in what the DNR calls a “tragic hunting accident.” The state agency says that Trent along with another juvenile and a 19-year-old man were stationary in a small boat duck hunting on the South branch of the Manitowoc River near Brothertown when something went wrong and Schueffner was fatally shot. The DNR says witnesses have been interviewed and all three males were following hunting laws and completed hunter safety courses. No other details including the identity of the other two hunters are being released at this time pending a completion of their investigation which will be reviewed by the Calumet County District Attorney’s Office.
