A former student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison says his sexual assault conviction should be thrown out because his attorney made critical mistakes. Nathan Friar was found guilty last April. Testimony was given in Dane County Circuit Court Wednesday concerning Friar’s motion. Trial attorney Brian Brophy told the court he regrets failing to offer expert witness testimony. Assistant Dane County District Attorney Stephanie Hilton said Brophy’s representation of Friar was more than legally adequate.
