A man wanted in connection with the death of an 18-month-old boy in a Menasha apartment fire is now in the Winnebago County jail. Police say 29-year-old Vernon Williams turned himself in Friday morning on a warrant for neglecting a child consequence is death. Williams is accused of being asleep and drunk when he was supposed to be watching three kids on September 6th. Testing revealed Williams’ blood alcohol content was three-times the legal limit. The fire last month started when a five- and-three-year-old child were playing with a lighter. The 18-month-old victim was taken to the hospital and died four days later. A conviction carries a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison.
