The Manitowoc/Two Rivers YMCA will host its first annual “Sweat For a Cure” event today. According to Danielle Waak ,who is spearheading the event, brainstorming for the fundraiser began last November. While originally planning for the event to be largely fitness related, it has grown significantly since then. A large collection of auction items and 33 raffle baskets will be set up in the Y lobby for anyone to bid on or buy tickets for. Outside, five food trucks will be set up in the parking lot for everyone to visit. Inside, guests will participate in fun fitness related events from 8:00 – 11:30. Fitness bingo, hula hooping contents, and “burpees for boobies” will intersperse regular fitness activities. Registration can be completed online, at the Y, or on the day of the event. There are still some shirts/tanks available for an additional donation. The first 50 people to register have a chance to win an egg roll lunch party compliments of Vue’s Family Food Stand. The Wellness Department will “Sweat for a Cure” to raise funds for breast cancer awareness and prevention. All funds raised will be split between the Aurora Hospital Vince Lombardi Cancer Center and the YMCA’s LiveSTRONG Program to benefit breast cancer patients in Manitowoc County. Plan for a great morning filled with fitness, food, and raffles!
