Winds topping 50 miles-an-hour caused big waves and flooding along the Lake Superior shore front Wednesday in the Twin Ports. Local officials reported power outages and water-covered roads in the Canal Park area along the Duluth waterfront. No injuries were reported. The Canadian freighter Assiniboine, anchored in Lake Superior, reported wind gusts up to 64 miles-an-hour and 20-foot waves. Another freighter measured a wind gust of 86 miles-an-hour.
