The new Special Investigations Division is having an impact — after it was formed within the Milwaukee Police Department six months ago. So far, the team has made 506 arrests, recovered 133 guns and seized about 293-thousand dollars in drug money. The new division replaced the department’s gang and vice squads. More than 230 people have been charged with crimes so far and non-fatal shootings in Wisconsin’s largest city have dropped by 16 percent during the six-month period.
