It started with a simple mosquito bite. Now, 62-year-old Susan Pappalardo faces months of rehab. The West Allis woman is the first documented case of West Nile virus in a human being in Milwaukee County this year. Family members say the formerly active woman can’t walk and is only able to answer yes-or-no questions. After she became sick, Pappalardo suffered severe exhaustion, confusion and had a temperature of 103-degrees.
