A competency hearing will be held in November for a man charged with first-degree intentional homicide. Thirty-one-year-old Preston Kraft was taken into custody at the end of a five-day search last May. Authorities were looking for him after 53-year-old Robert Pettit was found dead in his driveway with a head wound. Public defenders told the Rusk County judge they had reason to doubt Kraft was competent to stand trial.
