After several weeks of mosquitoes swarming eastern Wisconsin, the first case of the West Nile Virus was recently confirmed to be contracted by an individual in Brown County. The Brown County Health Department confirmed the case, and they are urging residents to take the proper steps to avoid being bitten by the blood thirsts bugs. Some tips they have given include to avoid spending much time outside at dusk or dawn, wear insect repellant, and to dispose of any stagnant water around your home. For instance, drain any birdbaths you have, and dispose of any tires that are outside. Mother nature is helping reduce the mosquito population as well, with the cooler temperatures killing many of them off.
