The Big Ten Conference has changed its overtime format for the 2018-2019 hockey season. If a conference game is tied at the end of regulation, a five-minute overtime period will be decided using a three-on-three setup. If the game is still tied, a sudden-death shootout will be held. Administrators approved the change Thursday, matching overtime rules used by the National Collegiate Hockey Conference and the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.
