The Village of Whitelaw is disputing two separate bills, which they don’t believe they should have to pay. The first of these bills came from Verizon Wireless, after the Village had their account hacked. The hacker opened around 450 new cell phone lines under the Villages’ name, resulting in a nearly $11,000 tab. The other in question expenditure totaled around $26,000. A subcontractor on the High way 10 reconstruction project billed the village for delays for their installation of some storm sewers. Village Clerk Chris Hill claims the village had no contact with any subcontractors, and does not feel like they owe money for something they did not approve.
