The officer that was involved in the shooting that resulted in a death in Manitowoc man has been identified. Officer Fielder Clark, along with the Manitowoc Fire Department, responded to an activated fire alarm in the 1500 block of South 35th Street Sunday morning. While on site, Clark got into a confrontation with 25 year old Bruce A. Smith, who reportedly had a blunt object. Smith died at the scene. The Wisconsin Department of Justices’ Division of Criminal Investigation has taken over the case, and have placed Clark on paid administrative leave until the case is solved.
