Update 4:00 pm – Officials are not releasing the identity of the shooter at this time but did say that he was an employee at WTS Paradigm. Of the 4 victims that were injured by the shooter, 3 people sustained serious gunshot wounds and one had non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect was heavily armed with a semi-automatic pistol and a number of extra magazines. The state and county are offering services to witnesses who may need support.
Update 3:00 pm – Officials have reported that 4 people were injured by the gunmen. One victim was taken to a different hospital. The suspected shooter has died at the hospital after being shot by police.
Update 12:37 pm- A city official is reporting that 3 people were injured and taken to a hospital. None of the injuries were fatal. The suspected shooter was also injured. City Administrator Mike Davis says police have lifted the lockdown. The shooting was reported at WTS Paradigm, a software company. An employee from Esker, which is next door to WTS Paradigm, said he heard a couple of shots but didn’t know what it was until he saw multiple people running from the building at “full sprint”. Officials say there are no other suspects and the public is no longer in danger.
An active shooter has been reported in a subarb of Madison. The call to police came in around 10:30am this morning. Officers and multiple ambulances from many jurisdictions have responded to the scene at an office complex in Middleton.
Dane County Sheriff’s Department, spokeswoman Elise Schaffer comfirmed there is an “active shooter situation”. Evacuees are being taken to a nearby hotel. Businesses and schools in the area are also on lockdown.
An alert from the Middleton Police Department says, “Officers and emergency personnel are on the scene on an active shooter in the 1800 block of Deming Way in the City of Middleton. Instructions: Please lock all doors, stay inside and shelter in place until further notice.”
