Today is day four of our week-long series on suicide in commemoration of Suicide Prevention Week. Today we are talking with Kelly Lenz and her daughter Kirsten (KER-sten) about their struggles with suicide. For Kelly, it began at a young age.
These struggles continued into her teenage years.
Kirsten began her struggles early on as well.
Kirsten eventually became so upset, she attempted to kill herself.
This attempt had a massive effect on both Kirsten and the rest of her family.
Kirsten is currently receiving psychiatric help from a psychiatrist and is working on improving her mental health.
She told us it was rather hard to open up at first since she wasn’t the one that really wanted to go.
Kirsten explained some of the exercises her therapist had her do at home to help her in between sessions.
If you or someone you know needs immediate help, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, at 1-800-273-TALK. (1-800-273-8255)
