Bail is set at $10 thousand recognizance bond for a 30-year-old rural Kiel man charged with felony-hit and run causing injury in connection with a pick-up vs. motorcycle collision yesterday in Manitowoc County. Court records show that James V. Hoderny was driving his truck when he made a turn in front of a motorcycle driven by 58-year-old Richard R. Brockert, also from the Kiel area, at the intersection of County Roads M and XX in the Town of Meeme. Hoderny fled the scene and was apprehended a short time later and taken into custody. Brockert was not wearing a helmet and remains hospitalized at Theda Care Medical Center in Neenah with what are described as “serious injuries”. Conditions of bail are that Hoderny not operate any motorized vehicle and report to The Sheriff’s Department for photos and prints upon release. His initial appearance is scheduled for October 1st at 2:30.
