It’s not a good time to go swimming in Lake Michigan. Too much rain over a short period of time has forced the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District to dump the overflow from toilets into the lake. The action taken Wednesday represents the fifth time that has happened this year. Doing that again will bring on a fine from the state. District officials say the only alternative would be to let the sewage back up into people’s basements.
