The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents that no one from the Department of Natural Resources is conducting evacuations. The county in western Wisconsin is one of many to be devastated by flood waters. Authorities have received reports of someone going door-to-door in the Town of Portland, telling residents to evacuate immediately because a dam is about to fail. There have been no complaints about looting or theft, so far. Real emergency personnel would be wearing a uniform and driving a marked vehicle.
