A Hortonville resident has died as a result of a crash in Appleton yesterday morning. The incident took place on South Memorial Drive, near West College Avenue at around 2:15 AM. When police officers arrived on the scene, they found a driver trapped in a vehicle with significant damage. The unnamed 37 year old was pronounced dead at the scene. An investigation revealed the vehicle was traveling north in what was described as a “very high rate of speed”, before the driver hit a median, a light pole, and finally a railroad grade signal tower. As of this point, it is not known if alcohol or drugs played a factor in the accident.
