At least two tornadoes touched down in Wisconsin on Tuesday evening, including one north of Kiel. The tornado near the Calumet and Manitowoc County lines destroyed a barn and uprooted several trees. The National Weather Service confirmed ‘that’ twister as an EF-1 tornado. Meanwhile, Calumet County and the city of New Holstein both declared a state of emergency because of the storms. State officials said nearly a dozen homes near New Holstein received damage. Meanwhile, Manitowoc County UW-Extension Agriculture agent Scott Gunderson said due to saturated field conditions the Field Day scheduled today at Vogel Family Farms has been canceled. Organizers were anticipating about 150 people to attend, and vow to try again in 2019.
The National Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado touched down in Sheboygan County on Tuesday. This was during the torrential downpour the entire east side of the state was experiencing. NWS is saying that the touchdown occurred just south of Sheboygan in the Town of Wilson at around 5:00 PM. This report comes on the tail of a ton of damage that was caused by the storm, including downed powerlines and large tree branches throughout the entire lakeshore area, as well as a sinkhole appearing in the Wisconsin Maritime Museum Parking lot.
