A Wisconsin doctor has entered a not guilty plea to two felony charges connected to the death of his 20-month-old son. Forty-one-year-old Doctor Trung Tran made an appearance in Oneida County Circuit Court Tuesday. He’s charged with child neglect and child abuse for failing to prevent bodily harm. His son, Avery, died in April 2017 while he was being watched by his step mother, Ellen Tran. She will face reckless homicide charges when she goes on trial in October. Ellen Tran told authorities the toddler fell down in a shower injuring his head. According to a criminal complaint, a child abuse expert disagreed the injuries could have happened that way. The next legal step against Doctor Tran won’t come until after his wife’s trial.
