An important part of the business community in downtown La Crosse has closed its doors for the final time after 67 years. Customers in western Wisconsin will have to go elsewhere to buy appliances, furniture, and other supplies. Wettstein’s was opened 67 years ago. It was started by Howard Wettstein when he began selling televisions on consignment to enhance his antenna installation business. Gundersen Health plans to re-purpose the historic building to offer health-care services in the downtown area.
