The Milwaukee Brewers benefitted from two Pirate misplays while putting six runs on the board in the third inning of Sunday’s 7-4 victory. Mike Moustakas and Manny Pina each hit a home run with a man on base, then Jonathan Scoop cemented the win with an insurance homer in the seventh. Chase Anderson got tired and gave up three runs in the sixth, but he still earned his ninth victory. Brewers Skipper Craig Counsell was happy with his starter’s first five innings.
While he had a great pirst 5 innings, Anderson says he needs to execute better.
The Brewers kept pace with the Cubs and Cardinals by winning. Josh Hader, Joakim Soria, and Jeremy Jeffress blanked Pittsburgh over the last four innings. Counsell commented on Soria’s success.
Milwaukee takes Monday off, then Junior Guerra starts the opener of a three-game series at Cincinnati Tuesday night.
