A Manitowoc man was arrested on Wednesday after he struck two construction workers in the face. Police were called to the 1100 block of Washington Street at around 4:30 PM on a report of a man striking a construction worker. When an officer arrived, he witnessed the man, a 19 year old Manitowoc resident, attempting to leave the scene, but he was being stopped by a separate worker, whom he then struck in the face. The officer ran toward the scuffle with his Taser drawn, instructing the assailant to get on the ground. The man complied and was placed into handcuffs. The officer learned by speaking to the workers that they witnessed the man go under a construction barrier, and walk across freshly poured concrete. When workers attempted to get him to leave, the man threw a basketball at one of them, and punched him in the face. The man is now facing charges of substantial battery, simple battery and disorderly conduct.
