One of two Manitowoc residents accused of using drugs while babysitting two young boys last month has been bound over for trial. Court records show that 38-year-old Jamie Schrank appeared in Manitowoc County Circuit Court where a judge determined there was evidence to bound her over for trial.
Manitowoc Police were called to a local hospital on July 28th for a report of a child being treated for external and internal injuries. The three-year-old boy was transported to a Green Bay Hospital for emergency surgery then transferred to Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin for further surgery where he died later that evening.
A 5-year-old boy whom Schrank and the second defendant in this case—46-year-old Eduardo Gamez have in common—was also examined where it was revealed he had bruising on his legs and abdominal/chest area. He’s been placed in care outside the home. Both Schrank and Gamez remain in the the County Jail in lieu of $25 thousand cash with Gamez due in court for his preliminary hearing next week.
