Unemployment numbers in both Manitowoc and Manitowoc County declined in the month of July. Numbers released by the State Department of Workforce Development show the city’s jobless rate checks in at three-point-three percent down a-half-percent from June’s number of three-point-eight-percent and six-tenths of a percent lower than last July’s rate of three-point-nine percent. Meanwhile Manitowoc County’s unemployment rate is an even three-percent. That’s down from three-point-four percent in June and last June’s number of three-point six percent. These numbers mirror the overall statewide trend where preliminary July unemployment rates declined in all 12 metro areas and decreased or stayed the same in 71 of the state’s 72 counties. The Department of Workforce Development adds that this news follows last week’s release of monthly statewide estimates from the Business of Labor Statistics showing Wisconsin maintained a seasonally adjusted unemployed rate under three percent (two-point-nine) for a sixth straight month setting another record.
