Commercial fishermen on Lake Superior say they are seeing a strong recovery by whitefish and lake trout. Fishing in the area around the Apostle Islands is being described as exceptional so far in 2018. There was a notable decline about 15 years ago. The experts have told the Wisconsin Natural Resources Board record numbers of fish have been taken this summer. They say the Apostle Islands and South Shore region of Lake Superior can return to being a national sport fishing destination.
