The female suspect in the case of the death of the 3 year old child in Manitowoc last week, admitted to police that she was using methamphetamine on the day the child died. 38 year old Jamie Schrank told police that she smokes meth about three times per day, a claim which was backed up by the discovery of 0.3 grams of meth found in her home. Schrank and 46 year old Eduardo Gamez were both arrested after the child suffered internal and external injuries, resulting in his death. The couple was caring for the toddler over the “summer months” while his parent was at work. The autopsy of the child is not yet complete, with results expected in three to six weeks. The couple is expected to be in court on Monday for their initial appearances.
