The veteran actress who played Mrs. Garrett in the situation comedy “The Facts of Life” has died at the age of 92. Charlotte Rae was a Milwaukee native. She died at her Los Angeles home Sunday. Rae originated the character of Edna Garrett in 1978 on another show, “Diff’rent Strokes.” “The Facts of Life” was a spinoff which ran for nine seasons. Rae played a wise and caring housemother to a group of teenage girls. Charlotte Rae Lubotsky studied drama at Northwestern University.
