Authorities in Chippewa County say they are handling more drug-related felony cases than in the past. That’s resulting in a rapidly-growing number of children in foster care. D-A Wade Newell says the number of felony cases has almost doubled in the last four years. There are currently 152 children placed in foster care in the county. A meeting has been scheduled for August 14th as Chippewa County searches for more foster families and more resources to help the children affected.
