Since the beginning of June, the Green Bay Police Department has taken 28 bike theft complaints, responded to 42 abandoned bikes, and have investigated several burglaries where bikes have been stolen. Officers and CSI’s spend countless hours investigating these thefts and trying to return the bikes to their rightful owners. Sadly, these crimes continue to occur as evident by the number of bikes recovered annually which are eventually auctioned off. The Green Bay Police Department teamed up with CH Robinson, a local business to combat this problem by hosting a “Bike Lock Give Away.” The giveaway took place yesterday in the pavilion in Fisk Park. Staff from CH Robinson and Community Police Officers handed out bike locks to children with the hope that this will prevent more bicycles from being stolen.
