A military panel has sentenced a former senior airman from Wisconsin to life in prison without parole for committing a double murder. That decision marks the second time Andrew Witt has avoided the original death sentence he had received. Witt killed airman Andrew Schliepsiek and his wife Jamie on Robins Air Force Base in Georgia in 2004, stabbing them both. The fact Witt had suffered a traumatic brain injury in a motorcycle accident four months before the killings was a factor in the reduced sentence. Witt is from the La Crosse area.
