A Two Rivers police officer was taken to a local hospital yesterday afternoon for treatment of a leg wound after being stabbed during a scuffle in that city. Assistant Police Chief Brian Kohlmeier said officers were called shortly after 3:00 o’clock for the report of suspicious material found in a trailer at the end of Davis Street. The investigation led police to two properties on nearby McKinley Street where a man armed with a knife came out of a residence. Kohlmeier said the suspect ignored repeated commands from his officers and while police attempted to subdue him one of them was stabbed once-or-twice in the leg. The unidentified officer is expected to recover. Meanwhile, the male suspect, said to be in his 50’s, apparently came into contact with scrap-metal in the yard and was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. He was expected to be transported to the Manitowoc County jail after getting medical attention.
