Sister Lorna Zemke was honored with the first FAME Legacy Award at The Feierabend Association for Music Education conference in Chicago on Saturday, July 21. She received the award for “exemplifying the Feierabend Philosophy of promoting communities of tuneful, beautiful and artful citizens.” Sister Zemke is internationally regarded as a top scholar, practitioner and Kodály music educator. Kodály is an experience-based approach to teaching music developed in Hungary by Zoltán Kodály during the mid-20th century. Thanks to Sister Zemke’s extensive studying, knowledge and vision, Silver Lake College of the Holy Family was among the first to offer a master’s degree in Kodály education.
